The wingspan of this nocturnal moth reaches up to 16cm. It lives in forests all around South-east Asia. The moth can be more commonly seen between May and August. The caterpillars feed on the leaves of Endospermum, a tree from the rubber family. Lyssa zampa is attracted to lights in urban areas. During the day it rests in shady places.
